“I enjoy putting all the medical knowledge I’ve learned toward helping others.”
-Dr. Curuchi Anand

Originally from Calcutta, India, Dr. Curuchi Anand came to America to practice internal medicine. He later decided to pursue a fellowship as a gastroenterologist. “I chose gastroenterology because I wanted to do more procedures, which I find interesting and challenging,” he explains.

As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Anand treats diseases of the esophagus, stomach, digestive track and liver. Some of the most common diseases treated by gastroenterologists include ulcers, Crohn’s disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and inflammatory bowel disease. “Anyone who is suffering from diarrhea, or abdominal pain that lasts more than a few days should see their doctor. It could be a sign they are suffering from a serious gastrointestinal illness.”

Dr. Anand once had a patient with Crohn’s disease who was really in need of help. “She had a very bad quality of life when I first saw her and was having trouble getting the right treatment. I gave her an infusion, a new treatment for her problem, and she really made an improvement after that. I am very proud that I was able to help her.”

Dr. Anand enjoys working closely with his many colleagues in the Division of Gastroenterology at Fallon Clinic. “There is a lot of collegiality within our group and we often discuss difficult cases together. We also have a very dedicated support staff here and that really helps us provide streamlined care for our patients.”
